Laurie Kopp Weingarten, CEP
& Chief Educational Consultant
Laurie Kopp Weingarten attended The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated summa cum laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Beta Gamma Sigma honor societies. She worked in marketing for several Fortune 500 corporations until she decided to pursue an MBA at Harvard Business School. After returning to New Jersey, Laurie and her partner, Elsie Koo, co-founded One-Stop.
In her role as Chief Educational Consultant, Laurie guides students through each stage of the college admissions process. She is passionate about helping students reach their full academic and extracurricular potential; there is nothing more rewarding than their look of elation upon acceptance to their top choice schools!
Laurie starts working with students as early as their freshman year of high school and acts as their personal guide and consultant until they select and commit to their ideal college! She covers all aspects of the admission process from high school course selection, standardized test choices, extra-curricular activity enhancement, volunteer work, summer jobs/internships, essay topic selection, resume guidance, early decision/early action strategies and practically every other situation that arises during the high school years!
For over two decades, Laurie was an alumna interviewer for the University of Pennsylvania, meeting with hundreds of students from various areas of the country. She applies this experience by coaching our students on how to improve their interview skills, whether it’s for summer internships or college admission.
Laurie visits various colleges and universities regularly and speaks directly with admissions officers to remain up-to-date on current admissions policies and practices.
Awarded the CEP by the American Institute of Certified Educational Planners (AICEP), Laurie has been recognized for achieving the highest level of competence in her field. She has been regularly featured in numerous newspapers and publications. Laurie is also a professional member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), and a member of the Higher Education Consultants Organization (HECA), the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), the New Jersey Association for College Admission Counseling (NJACAC), and the Pennsylvania Association for College Admission Counseling (PACAC). She is also a proud member of the Character Collaborative.
Laurie is married and has two children who, in the time it takes to blink, suddenly became young adults. One graduated from Princeton, and the other graduated (virtually, due to Covid) from the University of Pennsylvania.

Elsie Koo, MBA
After earning her MBA in Finance and International Business at New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business, Elsie played key management roles with several international banks and accounting firms including Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi, JP Morgan, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and PricewaterhouseCoopers. However, her passion has always been educating and working with children and teens.
Employed as a vice president at Morgan Stanley, Elsie decided the time was right to pursue her passion, which would also allow her to spend more time with her three young children. In 2010, she assumed ownership of the JEI Learning Center in Marlboro. Elsie focused on strengthening the curriculum and implementing an individualized approach; the learning center’s enrollment has more than doubled since Elsie took ownership! The success of the SAT program led Elsie to create the next logical step, and she co-founded “One-Stop College Counseling.”
Laurie, Matt, Brooke and I make the perfect team. We have continued to provide a high-quality counseling service to our many students, and it has been so exciting to help them get accepted into the colleges of their dreams.
Admission Interview Specialist
Brooke graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and received her master’s degree in politics and education, with honors, from Columbia University. Brooke’s experience includes several years as an alumna interviewer at Penn.
Prior to first joining One-Stop College Counseling in 2014, Brooke spent 12 years at The TEAK Fellowship, a NYC highly-selective, educational-access program for talented students. She established the organization’s comprehensive college counseling program, which included the creation of college lists, overnight college trips, essay brainstorming/editing, and test preparation. Brooke has worked with hundreds of students to help them identify their best college match and earn a spot at top tier universities. Brooke has also worked with high school and college students to help them refine their resumes, sharpen their interview skills, and perfect their cover letters in order to secure summer internships at top law firms, investment banks, and media companies.
In addition to her work at One-Stop, Brooke is an admission interviewer and a member of the admission committee at The Peddie School, an independent co-educational day and boarding high school. Brooke interviews prospective students, evaluates applications, helps plan and execute on-campus admission events, and serves as the liaison between Peddie’s athletics department and the admission office. She is also a member of NJACAC.
Brooke truly enjoys interacting with motivated and interesting young people and believes that preparation is the key to a successful interview. After a several-year hiatus, Brooke has returned to One-Stop and will be leading our college interview preparation program. We are thrilled to welcome her back to our team!
